Our story

It all started 50 years ago,
with El Farolito, a taquería in a little
corner of the then unknown Colonia
Condesa, located just west of the
historic centre of Mexico City...

In 2010, UNESCO declared Mexican Cuisine an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, making it one of the first world cuisines to receive such an honour. In that same year, and after half a century and becoming Mexico City’s leading taquería, El Farolito came to the UK and opened its doors in London as Lupita.

In 2010, Lupita Central was born in the heart of London

Lupita East near the Tower of London opened in November 2013

In 2013, Lupita was named Mexican Restaurant of the Year in the LUKAS Awards and Restaurant Group of the Year in 2014!

Lupita continues to grow with our newest venue, Lupita West, opening in December 2015

Lupita was rated the top Mexican Restaurant in London in the Zagat Survey for 2015!!

The name Lupita comes from a Spanish title of the Virgin Mary – Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe – meaning “Our Lady of Guadalupe”.
